Blue Striped 1780's Dress - Part 1

Image
I cannot be bothered writing properly for this. So you may glean information from these resources. Fabric - Mainly the striped one, but maybe I need some part of it to be another colour. The denim-like blue looks boring with it, because it is too similar to the stripe colour perhaps. The brighter blue looks better. Picture, from Janet Arnold's Patterns of Fashion 1 book. But I probably won't do the collar, just the basic dress. It has a kind of pattern, but I'm not sure how the skirt is supposed to be attached. Dress from the same era that someone made that looks really awesome. Don't you think everyone should dress like that? This is the link to her page about the dress - A Blue Printed Cotton 1780s Gown.

Lolly Review

The lolly in question: I got this from Toyworld for $1.40, in the interests of trying something new, how exciting. The deal with this is, I believe, that you get the pink gelatine stick thing (same sort of stuff as sour worms, etc) and dip it in the green apple sour stuff, and then dip it into the sherbet at the end there. As with every product of it's type (ones involving dipping), there was a miss-match in the amounts of dippers vs dip. I suspected this straight away, and my fears were soon confirmed - there was not enough pink sticks! I haven't yet decided if I should just use my fingers or if that would be gross. There are a number of small problems with this product, the first being that after you get it out of the packet, you have to get off the plastic that stops everything from falling out. It's stuck on rather firmly and you don't want to pull too hard and have it suddenly come off, thus jerking it, and getting sherbet and gooey green stuff everywhere. I manage...

Autumn Zebra - A Name for One

What would be a good name for an autumnal coloured zebra? I can't think of anything. Imagine if you had an albatross in a tophat called Whimsy and an orange-yellow-brown zebra called.... What?

Book Review: Life in Shakespere's England

I was thinking about writing "reviews" of the books I read. I'm not sure how long this plan will last; so far it has taken a month to actually get as far as writing the first review.... They might not be very good reviews either, and they might not tell you anything (thus why they wouldn't be very good). The first book, here, is probably out of print and unobtainable. The book in question: Everyday Life in Elizabethan England . I think I forgot to find out the author. Maybe I wrote it down somewhere, but I have no idea where if I did. This book covers many aspects of life in Elizabethan England, from clothes and family life to sports and theatre. The sort of things that one generally doesn't know much about. For instance, bear-baiting was popular, and many of the theatres were relegated to the same areas as the bear pits, to contain all the noisy, drunk, disruptive people, so I gather. Many structures were even duel purpose for these activities... Unfortunately, t...

How Fast You Can Type

Don't you want to know your words-per-minute typing score? Here is an online test where you type in the words shown for a minute and they tell you how many you do correctly. 49 words Speedtest I got 38 the first time, because I was not relaxed enough and was trying to be quick also. You need to be relaxed to type quickly, and you need to not think about it and just do it. I'm not sure if I type this quickly normally or not. On the one hand, I am not trying to type fast normally so maybe I just be slack and do it slowly. On the other hand, I am normally not worrying about anything and am just typing, so maybe I am more relaxed and thus typing faster. Also, when typing from my head instead of looking at the words on the screen, I am not slowed down by what the words say, or by having to visually process the words and then send them to my hands. Typing what I'm thinking seems to involve less thought (or no thought even). I make a fair amount of mistakes though, some of which a...
